Chilla Privacy

Effective September 9, 2026

At a glance

Chilla is designed as a local-first desktop viewer. It does not require a Chilla account, upload your local files to a Chilla-operated service, or include advertising or analytics SDKs.

Files on your Mac

Files and directories you open are read on your Mac so Chilla can display them. Edits are written only when you choose to save. Chilla may store local preferences and caches needed for features such as window state, themes, file browsing, and diff review.

The developer does not receive your local document content through normal local viewing.

GitHub links

When you explicitly open a supported GitHub pull request, commit, or compare URL, Chilla requests the related public GitHub metadata and diff content. GitHub receives ordinary network information and the requested URL and processes it under the GitHub General Privacy Statement.

Product website

This website does not use third-party analytics, advertising tags, accounts, forms, or tracking cookies. It is delivered through Cloudflare, which may process IP addresses, browser and device details, requested URLs, timestamps, and security signals for delivery, reliability, and abuse prevention under the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Downloads and external sites

Download, Homebrew, source-code, and support links take you to GitHub or other external services. Those services handle information under their own privacy policies. Chilla does not control their logs, cookies, or account behavior.

Changes and contact

This notice will be updated when the app or website changes in a way that materially affects information handling. For questions or privacy requests, open an issue in the Chilla issue tracker.
